A Response to the Nashville Statement

This week I’m reading Men Explain Things to Me by Rebecca Solnit. Also this week, I came across a news article in Pink News about the Nashville Statement.  The Nashville Statement is a declaration, a manifesto of sorts,  written by conservative Christian evangelical ministers to define what they collectively agree and disagree with about marriage, homosexuality, transgendered people, and sex. The synchronized timing seems divine and connected in a way that I normally wouldn’t see. I’m not surprised by the manifesto. As a resident of Indiana under the government of the now Vice President, Mike Pence, I’m very much aware...

Discussing the Tough Stuff

This past week has been a rough one for most of America. Conversations are tough and emotionally-laden. The showdown and tragedies in Charlottesville, SC has all of us questioning society, our roles and responsibilities. I feel like I have to share some of the conversations in my house. For the most part, the Renaissance Man and I share similar views or often times, one of us is passionate about a subject and the other just listens and accepts because we don't have an opinion on the subject. *I seriously don't know about all the nuances of the Star Wars genre...and...

Divine Timing, Manifesting or Magic. What works for you?

I’ve been studying the Craft for quite a while. I’m not always a good student; I get distracted by life. I forget what phase the moon is in. I’ve been known to misplace my tools in the middle of rituals. But I’ve kept going and I’ve had enough success that I keep coming back to it. I’ve also been studying the Law of Attraction ever since The Secret came out on video. I have  collected a sizable library and numerous techniques designed to make the law work. Techniques like vision boards, affirmations, mantras, visualizations.  I’ve also had some success using...

Spring Cleaning: Making room for the Sacred

We’ve been having an unusual streak of spring like weather here in the Midwest. I was joking last week that the ground hog lied; there was no 6 more weeks of winter. Needless to say with the temperatures hovering around 60 and the windows open, I’ve been diving into spring cleaning, clearing out the old and stagnant and making way for the Sacred. I know a lot of people do the top to bottom cleaning in late January to welcome Brigid at Imboc but I don’t usually start that until March when the weather warms up. I do start...

That Time I Lost My Words and Dodged Hummingbirds

Words fail me today. Projects have been abandoned, plans put aside. I sit at the computer staring at the work I have to do.....not doing any of it. I'm consumed with guilt. This is no way to run a business. Sales begin this week, holiday shopping has begun. Its my responsibility to get the word out about my Annual Holiday Celebration but I can't bring myself to move. I don't know why exactly. My heart is heavy. A gray cloud hangs overhead threatening to drench my hopes and dreams with an icy cold shower. I wonder if this is the...
